Taking a break from education technology to try and raise a few bucks to help those still suffering in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.
To kick off this new week, with the holidays drawing near, EmergingEdTech is switching the focus from education technology to helping those in need. There are still thousands of people in my home state of New York and nearby New Jersey suffering from the floods and devastation wrought in early November by Hurricane Sandy. I've just released a couple new songs and I'm making them the centerpiece of a charity drive to help out.
I'm excited about the forthcoming release of my newest song, “Christmas Time”, a duet with my wonderful wife Christine, but when I listen to the warm joy in this song and realize that there are still so many struggling to get back on their feet after Hurricane Sandy, I realize how important it is to help them out … to help people in need get back to normal lives and to be able to enjoy some comfort and joy this holiday season.
From today forward, throughout the entire month of December, I will donate all proceeds for sales of ANY of my songs (on iTunes, CD Baby and other music distribution outlets) to the Victims of Sandy Hurricane Relief effort undertaken by the students, faculty, and staff at The College of Westchester. They raised enough food and funds to feed over 1,100 people over Thanksgiving Weekend, and their food and financial contributions have helped hundreds more in recent few weeks.
Here’s a simple little video I put together for “Christmas Time†using photos my family I have have taken over the years and drawings my daughter made, along some art work from my friend artist Glenn Cotler (and a few other images I am sharing via Creative Commons licensing – sources are noted in the video description on Youtube). I hope you enjoy it and click through to the links below and buy a copy to help the cause. Thanks!
