Teacher Sue Purvis from Medowie Public School in Australia reached out recently and shared this video that reflects on the many benefits and things learnt as Medowie ran their first “Hour of Code”.

During Term 4 2018, Stage 1 Teachers and SLSOs (Social Learning Support Officers) at Medowie P.S., led by Darren Gould, (Assistant Principal), seized the initiative to celebrate, support and promote the World-Wide focus on ‘The Hour of Code‘, across all Stage Teams.

The above video outlines their journey and snapshots student engagement with many digital technologies resources.

The animation also documents ideas and features heavily mirroring 4Cs Pedagogies. These features, including collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication, have now become a precursor for future planning based on the STEM Design Thinking Cycle and Problem Based Learning Model.

As you can see in the video, all in all, the Hour of Code was clearly a beneficial and enjoyable undertaking for the educators at Medowie P.S.!
