Welcome to “Emerging Internet Technologies in Education”. The possibilities for the use of current and emerging internet technologies in the education field are limitless, and there is so much potential to tap into. Each week I will research a relevant topic and provide information, insight, and opinion. If you’re anything like me, you’re looking for a quick overview (so I’ll try to keep my posts relatively brief), and you also appreciate a steady stream of ideas and info about this topic (so I’ll post consistently, once a week).

My qualifications
I have been in the information technology field for over 20 years, working at a senior management level for more than half of that time. I have been an avid user of Internet technologies for many of those years, and last year I began working for an institution of higher education, where I focused increasing attention on instructional uses of current and emerging Internet technologies. There is so much that can be done to engage students with these evolving technologies. I also feel strongly that educators should strive to be aware of these technologies, and to provide students with insight into them. Please note that I do not claim to be an expert in these technologies - I am, probably much like yourself, very interested in them, and willing to devote some time to exploring them and sharing my experiences in a way that I hope is useful. I really hope to encourage a dialogue - to hear back from readers who have used these and similar technologies and can share their experiences, perspective, and knowledge!
