This new eBook is rich with examples of, and informed insights into, using the iPad in academic programs, offers overviews of dozens of applications for teaching, and provides evidence of measurable successes in using the iPad to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
This new digital book by Kelly Walsh (founder/author of EmergingEdTech, CIO at The College of Westchester [4], and popular education technology speaker [5]) contains 19 chapters, grouped into these 4 sections:
- The “Implementations” section provides chapters discussing iPad programs at many different academic institutions. This includes in-depth examinations of planning, implementation, and lessons learned for a couple wide scale iPad implementations, and collections of short summaries and links to articles about many different iPad uses at schools across a variety of grade levels and academic subject areas.
- The “Apps” section includes 11 chapters providing introductions to 37 different applications being used by teachers. Many of these applications were designed specifically for education and some are more general applications that have been embraced by educators. Perspective is provided into how and why teachers are using many of these apps in the instructional and/or administrative process.
- The “Insights” section: Here we have a couple of chapters about studies that have provided measurable evidence of successful iPad implementations in schools, and a chapter discussing the use of Apple TV in conjunction with the iPad for presentation purposes.
- The “More Resources” section is a chapter that lists multiple web based resources where readers can learn more, participate in forums, and stay in touch with developments and articles discussing the use of the iPad in education.
