What are YOUR favorite free productivity applications for teachers?

Tell us about tools you like, and help build a great listing of resources …

On Sunday, I published this post [1], in which I defined 9 categories of free web based sites and applications that teachers can use to increase their productivity - that is, to help them do some of the many things they need to do, in an easier or better way. I provided an starting set of listings for each category (a total of over 30 free apps!). I focused on resources intended specifically for educators.

There are so many of these resources out there, and I’d like to make an effort to list some of the best of each type of resource. I am really hopeful to get feedback from readers as I build this list out - many of you have used tools in some of these categories. EmergingEdTech gets a fair amount of viewership (as I write this, the site has been visited by over 1800 readers since I published that post on Sunday), yet there have only been a couple comments on Sunday’s post so far. Please don’t be shy about commenting :) ! No suggestion is a bad one - the more sites I look at, the better a chance I have at selecting good sites for this listing.

Below are the categories I’ve included in this listing. If you’ve used any free apps in these categories that you suggest we check out (or stay away from), please comment below and tell us about them (or click over to the original post [1] to comment). Also, if you want to suggest a category you think I’ve overlooked, please do so!

  • Activity & Materials Creators
  • Communications Tools (Print & Electronic)
  • Course Management Systems & LMS alternatives
  • Clipart
  • Interactives (for White Boards, or Powerpoint)
  • Lesson Plans
  • Open Educational Resources
  • Quizzes & Tests
  • Rubrics

Click here [1] to view the 30+ resources in these categories in the original post.

Thanks in advance for any input you have to offer - it is greatly appreciated!
