Lecture Tools - another free, hosted LMS tool

[1]I first read about Lecture Tools [2] in this article [3] from The Chronicle. This home brewed LMS tool from professor Perry Samson of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor is available for free to instructors.
While this application does not compare to the extensive functionality of full fledged LMS applications like Blackboard or Moodle, it is certainly a capable “LMS lite” tool. The functionality offered in this application includes these capabilities: share slides and other learning objects, an advanced “clicker” system, upload podcasts, review attendance and check participation in activities, draw on your slides, view student questions and respond during the lecture, and more.
Lecture Tools has garnered some nice attention lately - in addition to the Chronicle article, the app was also recently featured in this article [4] in the Wall Street Journal. Additionally, Lecture Tools 2.0 is under construction, so there’s new functionality coming (although I did not see much in the way of specfics about that on the site).
