The Constituent Relationship Management solution chosen by hundreds of colleges and universities.
As Director of Institutional Information & Technology in an institution of Higher Education, much of my work day revolves around software applications used in administrative processes. While my primary focus here on EmergingEdTech will always be applications and tools for the classroom and instruction, occasionally I come across a solution in the administrative space that excites me. Talisma is just such an application.
Last week I attended Campus Management’s Campus Insight 2010 conference, where I learned more about Talisma CRM. Campus Management acquired Talisma in late 2008 (making it their second major offering along side their Campus Vue Student Information System).
While the first thing that comes to mind when considering CRM for Higher Ed is enrollment management, CRM really has use across the entire student life cycle.
Talisma’s Tool Set
Talisma has a powerful set of tools that enable it to play an impactful role across the enterprise. These tools include:
Automated Communication via Email, Phone, Chat, SMS Text Messaging: Talisma has an impressive ability to facilitate communication via all of these different tools.
Highly personalized e-mail communications can be automated as part of campaign management using sophisticated rules and work flow routing. Additionally, individual electronic communications can easily be triggered on-the-fly while engaging applicants or other constituents, and all communications are automatically linked to the associated student for later reference.
One useful mechanism built into the process is a sort of shorthand to reference and embed preformatted content – for example, type “#fa” and standardized, preformatted Financial Aid information will pop right into the email you are creating. This is just one of many functions built into Talisma to deliver communications efficiencies and automation.
Campaign Management: Talisma has a robust set of tools for campaign management, including a powerful visual workflow design and management interface. The workflow interface lets you easily see right on the screen how a series of steps flows, how many constituents are at each stage of a workflow process, the cost associated with a workflow step, and more. Knowledgebase & Self-Service: Talisma offers a Knowledgebase module that enables customers to locate answers to their own questions, any time. The Knowledgebase can also be used to direct incoming communications to self-service tools when applicable.
Others tools: Talisma also offers a Portal solution, Event Management, a Payment interface, and more.
It’s pretty easy to make the leap from envisioning Talisma as a way to better manage inquiries and enrollment to seeing it as an application that can play an impactful role in engaging with all your college’s contacts – alumni, employers, vendors, donors, and more.
Conclusion
Talisma is the premier CRM solution for Higher Ed for good reason. The sophisticated tool set positions users to develop and implement a wide variety of processes that can control staffing requirements while greatly improving and personalizing communications with all of a school’s constituents.
